3CX V16 Update 3 is Here. More secure, user friendly and with HubSpot CRM Integration

3CX V16 Update 3 is officially released. In case you missed the Alpha and Beta releases, Update 3 comes packed with extra security, more customization features in the web client and HubSpot CRM integration. Read on to find out about the new features and improvements included in Update 3.

More Security

As already mentioned, one of Update 3’s main focus points was security. What has changed:

  • TLS Compliance Level – now defaults to TLS v1.2 for your PBX, via the “Enable PCI compliance SSL/SecureSIP Transport and Ciphers” option in “Settings” > “Security”. Disable this option for compatibility with TLS v1.0 and legacy devices.

  • Secure SIP Trunks – instantly enable a SIP trunk for end-to-end secure communications by setting “Transport Protocol” to TLS (Transport Layer Security) and uploading a security certificate (.pem) provided by your VoIP provider.

3CX Live Chat & Talk – Let’s Keep those Conversions Up

With Update 3, a new version of the 3CX Live Chat & Talk plugin is also available. This latest version comes with new styling and customization options, including options to link your Facebook and Twitter social media accounts and your contact email address.

Additionally, you can now skip creating the Live Chat and Talk options manually and use the new configuration generator tool in “Settings” > “WordPress/Website Integration” to generate the configuration you want to add to your website. This greatly simplifies the process of enabling Live Chat and Talk on non-Wordpress sites.

New CRM Integration: HubSpot CRM

Another CRM you can now integrate with 3CX V16 is popular HubSpot CRM. Just like all other CRMs integrated with 3CX, you can:

  • Click to Call – Launch calls straight from HubSpot CRM via 3CX

  • Call Pop-ups – The customer record is brought up to you automatically during a call

  • Call Journals – Calls are logged as call records in the CRM

  • Create a new contact automatically when a call is received from an unknown number

Increased Efficiency

  • Web Service Reload – when updating the TLS certificates on 3CX-provided FQDNs, the voice/web service is now reloaded instead of restarted, keeping on-going calls unaffected.

  • Ad Hoc Reconnect – combined with the upcoming Android app, you can now seamlessly switch between WiFi and 3G/4G networks while roaming.

  • Push per Status – you can now use the new “Accept Push Notifications” option to enable / disable Push messagesfor each extension’s status. Set via the Management Console for the extension or click on the status profile to configure in Web Client’s “Settings” > “Call Forwarding”.

Web Client Updates

  • Named Group Chats – naming a group chat, now displays the group name for all participants, as well as on the soon-to-be-released Android and iOS apps.

  • Drag-and-Drop Attachment – while chatting, you can just drag-and-drop supported file types to send to recipients.

  • Smartphone Provisioning Badges – new shortcut badges in the Web Client when a smartphone has not been provisioned.

SIP Trunks – What’s New

  • Secondary Proxy – enable the “Alternative Proxy” option and set a secondary proxy host, if supported by your VoIP provider. This method simplifies SIP trunk and DID management, helping you to avoid maintaining two SIP trunks for failover reasons.

  • New DNS Options – the new “Auto Discovery” option and “Transport Protocol” and “IP Mode” settings ensure better control and provide flexibility over DNS resolutions.

  • Bridges in SIP Trunks – the Bridges function is now merged into SIP trunks along with the relevant VoIP gateways and SBCs, to make the Management Console UI more compact.

Click on “Updates” in the Management Console’s Dashboard, select “v16 Update 3” and click on “Download Selected” to install this update on your PBX.
